Subsidiaries include but are not limited to Reebok, Nordic Track, Weider and Weslo. ProForm elliptical machines are built for the more casual individual. If you plan to work out on a regularly you may want to consider other brands that are built for extended use.
Proform ellipticals will generally not be found in a gym environment. Runner's World categorized ProForm treadmills as a "light duty machine." The people in marketing are geniuses at making their product look top of the line and giving the appearance of their higher cost counterparts but these machines are primarily plastic.
The IFit technology they use for interactive programs has very poor quality but looks really nice. However, within 6 months expect problems. Proform Elliptical trainers also have a very short warranty of only 3 months for service and parts. The company also does not offer a great deal of support beyond the 30 days nor during. It is unclear what the companies intention is with these machines.
They typically range in price from 400.00 - 1.000. It is highly advisable to purchase your elliptical machine after a great deal of research. If you purchase your machine on line and later find that the machine is too bulky or that you are just not comfortable with it and you want to return or exchange it, you will discover that it is no easy task. Just getting the item packaged back up for return can be a grueling task indeed.
There are many ellipticals available for you to choose from. It’s not to say that Proform ellipticals are not for you but it is highly recommended that you consider the amount of time you will be spending on the unit. If you are an avid user and wish to have a good work out on the elliptical daily then you will want to consider a unit that is built for wear and tear. Proform ellipticals also come with many different feature’s. Some are built with an incline and a pulse grip to monitor your hear rate.
Other features may be an all terrain workout or mountain climbing. Usually the feature’s on the profrom elliptical are limited. The weight of your elliptical will vary but generally is roughly 300 pounds and can use up a great deal of space. So, it is important to determine the actual space you will be leaving the unit.
After all these are not machines that you can put away when you are done with them. Proform does offer a Space Saver version of the unit which is approximately 599.00. However the unit is said to be very unstable and has a lot of creaks and rattling. This unit is definitely among the quality of throw away fitness equipment. Another Space Saver is the Epic 1200 which appears to offer more support at just 300.00 more.
