These are front drive elliptical machines. The pedals are attached to a bar which rolls back and forth on a rail bar.

Single wheels tend to shift from left to right which can create an unstable environment.In comparison, the Schwinn 430 and 438 has an vastly improved upon design. It also has one wheel, but it is larger, giving the rolling motion a great deal more stability. It is interesting that their cheapest machine has the better design.

Many feel this added feature is fantastic in helping them stay highly motivated and to work out even better. The warranties on these models is fair, warranty coverage offers up to 2 years of service coverage and just 1 year for the electronic side. Schwinn does not offer the best service warranties but many feel this is acceptable as the machines are really so well made to start with.
The machine weighs in at about 221 pounds, that is the average weight of most machines of this caliber. Machines that are geared more toward being pocket book friendly are often very light weight and can be completely useless to an individual who is overweight. Even though the manufacturer will proclaim the machines are able to handle more weight, it is questionable at best when a 350 pound man is trying to use a 200 pound machine.
The math on this is clear. If you are not going to have the Schwinn Elliptical in one stationary space and will be moving it a great deal, you may want to consider another model.
